Many thanks to Find A Grave contributor Randal Wallen (#48626267) for this bio of William Wallen:

My GGG Grandfather William L. Wallen was married to Mary Ann "Annie" Sawyer Wallen. They lived in Madison County NC. William's sons Ruben (my GG GF) and his younger brother Archibald were in the NC 64th as well. In Sept. 1863 they were captured at Cumberland Gap and held at Camp Douglas Chicago Il. Arch died there and Ruben was parolled at the end of the war.

Also from Find A Grave contributor Randal Wallen:

William was my 3rd great grandfather. I don't know why I never noticed before, but there is a son of William and Mary "Annie" missing...Issac W Wallen of Madison County NC. Found in the house of William in the 1850 and 1860 census'.
