Mr. Freddie L. Evans LAKE CITY - Mr. Freddie L. Evans, 84, died Monday, July 22, 2013. Mr. Evans was born January 20, 1929, in Florence County, a son of the late Foster Eugene Evans and Ethel Lee Teal Evans, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Willie A. and Linnie E. Evans. Freddie loved and served God, his country, church and family. He was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church, the Abrams Sunday School Class, the Men's Association of the church, and the Meals on Wheels Program. Freddie received the "Man of Steel Award" in recognition of his longevity, faithfulness and dedication to the church. He was a retired farmer, owner /operator of the Country Club Grocery, and was a United States Army Veteran receiving the rank of Sergeant. Surviving include his wife of sixty-one years, Joan Mishoe Evans, who he dearly loved; two sons, Freddie Glenn (Nancy) Evans of Hartsville and Ricky Andrew (Melinda) Evans of Monroe, NC; one daughter, Robin E. (Frankie) Rivers of Florence; grandchildren, Lane (Rob) Buete of South Lake, TX, Amy Woodham of Harstville, Laurie (Paul) Taylor of Columbia, Melissa Nicole (Ryan) Howard of Marietta, SC, Andrew "Drew" Mishoe (Elizabeth) Evans of Polkton, NC, Evan Rivers and Mary Allyson Rivers, both of Florence; and 11 great-grandchild-ren. Mr. Evans was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who loved him. Mr. Evans was pre-deceased in death by his uncle and aunts, Curtis Evans, Juanita Hyman, Willa Mae Melton, Mary Lee Brayboy, and Alma Jo Wright. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Lake City First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton. Memorials may be made to Lake City First Baptist Church, P. O.
