Longtime Alaskan Roger L. Dixon, 74, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at home. Memorial services will be 6 p.m., Friday, June 14, at the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church at Mile 23, Kenai Spur Hwy. Pastor Henry Haney will officiate at the service. Roger was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Stockton, Calif. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Roger moved to Alaska in 1969 and had lived in Valdez and Anchorage, before moving to Nikiski. He worked for the Carpenters Union and also was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Nikiski New Hope Christian Fellowship and enjoyed fishing, camping and having fun with his family. "Roger always had love for our Lord, life and family. He was fun to be around and was always there to help." His family said. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Elta (Anthony) Dixon, brothers, Jack, Herb and Jerry and sisters, Evelyn and Elta Mae. He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Patrick Oyler, all of Nikiski; daughter, Jamie Dixon of Aceme, Wash.; grandson, Jepson Dixon; granddaughters, Michal Jorgensen, both of Nikiski, Tekoa "Koey" Dixon of Anchorage, Crystalline and Adelaide Haddock, both of Aceme, Wash.; great-granddaughter, Tyler-Nevaeh Hermans of Kenai; and sisters, Colleen Dixon, Dixie Erickson and Sally Clark, all of Eugene, Ore. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
