Norman Dean Brown, 93, of Bronson, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at his home.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Church in Bronson with Pastor Don Matteson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 4-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Norman Dean was born February 28, 1929 in Jackson, MI to Irving and Helen (Halleck) Brown. He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Rupertus as a Radarman and was a veteran of the Korean War. While on leave on September 2, 1951 Dean was married to Jane Ann Paul in Coldwater. Together they have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Mr. Brown was a lifelong truck driver, who enjoyed working on the family farm in his free time. He drove truck for Gambles for 28 years, Holland for 5 years, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local # 164 for 33 years. After his retirement he continued to work and drive for local farmers.
Dean attended Pleasant Hill Church and was very active in many local organizations including the Orland American Legion for 67 years, Good Sam's, the Branch County Jr. Livestock Association, the Branch County Fair, where he served on the Board. He was also a member of many other organizations. He and his wife enjoyed being part of the Country Couples. Dean enjoyed working in the garden, reading westerns, and fishing.
Dean is survived by his wife Jane Ann, his children Paulette Farrell of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Bryan (Brenda) Brown of Pipestone, MN; his grandchildren Audrey (Corey) Olds, Steven Farrell, Atchley (Jamie) Vesley, Bracy (Jason) Byers, Ellis "E.J" (Krista) Brown and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, his brother Donald Brown and his son-in-law Mike Farrell.
