Ed C. Baker was one of our prominent citizens. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Baker, one of the pioneer families of Palo Pinto County, having located here in 1856. His father taught the first school in Palo Pinto County in 1856. He taught for six years and then served in various county offices. His father is still living and dismissed school to take part in the expedition to Pease River at which he helped rescue Cynthia Ann Parker from the Comanche Indians. Ed C. Baker was the most informed land and real estate man in Palo Pinto County, having engaged in the abstract and real estate business for many years. He leaves a wife, a father, and his sisters.
