My great grandfather, Jerome was born to David Lucas and Elizabeth Stambach. Most records show he was born in Michigan. Although he enlisted into the Union Army during the Civil War in DeWitt, Clinton, Iowa in 1861. Jerome was wounded in his hand during the Civil War and was sent home to heal. Jerome re-inlisted in 1863, again in DeWitt, Clinton, Iowa.
By the 1870 Fed Census, Jerome was living in Bellevue Michigan and married to Eunice Kate Meech.
