Scott F. Powers

NEWBURYPORT — Scott Franklin Powers died unexpectedly but peacefully December 3, 2011 as he neared the end of treatment for cancer.

Born March 1, 1959 in Newburyport, he was the son of the late Franklin Joseph Powers and the late Barbara Jean Strickhouser. He leaves his beloved girlfriend Sheila Noonan, his ex-wife Sherry Powers, his sons Ross Powers and Dylan Powers, his sister Laurie LeBlanc and her husband Gary, his brother Stephen Powers and his wife Mary, his nieces Michaela Mattheson and her husband Jeff, and Caroline Robinson, his nephews Kyle LeBlanc and Mark Powers, and his grandniece Sophia Mattheson.

Scott was a skilled craftsman and builder, and his work that he was so proud of can be seen around the Greater Newburyport area in the homes of friends. Scott was an avid boater and fisherman who loved the rivers, lakes and the coasts of New England. But most important of all was his love for family. He was a 1977 graduate of Newburyport High School, a member of the 1976 state Super Bowl Champions, and attended Essex Agricultural College.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call Monday December 5 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Twomey LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. A celebration of life Mass will be held Tuesday, December 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Green St. in Newburyport.
