Benedict "Ben" K. Feist was born November 22, 1911 at Strasburg, ND, the son of Kasper B. and Eva (Lauinger) Feist. He attended St. Benedict's School in Strasburg. On September 25, 1934, he married Mary Lipp and they made their home in Strasburg where he worked for Mike Burgad's Tavern. He owned and operated his own tavern, Ben's Bar for 22 years. After retiring he worked for the Green Thumb Program for a few years. His wife died December 25, 1990. He entered the Strasburg Care Center in August of 1999. Ben enjoyed gardening. He died at the Linton Hospital, Linton, ND on Saturday December 16, 2000. Grateful to have shared his life are his three sons and five daughters-in-law; Benny and Loretta Feist, Eden Prairie, MN, Gary and Arlene Feist, Vernon, WI; Ken and Eleanor, Middleton, WI; Kay Feist, Pine City, MN; and Mary Pat Feist, Mukwanago, WI; one daughter and son-in-law; Jane and Doug Debing of West Fargo, ND; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one sister Mary Lipp of Strasburg, ND. In addition to his wife, Ben was preceded in death by two sons; Arnold and Daniel Feist; one brother and five sisters.
