Mina A. Benson, age 91, of Zumbrota, died on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Angel's Care Center in Cannon Falls. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Tom Isaacson officiating. Burial will be in Holden Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mina A. Bye was born on July 1, 1922 in Hennepin County, to Henry and Pearl (Rohe) Bye. She graduated from Osseo High School in 1940 and the University of Minnesota with a degree in home economics education. On June 7, 1944, she married Curtis C. Benson. They lived in various places while Curtis served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. They also lived in Owatonna, Burnsville, Northfield, and in 1967 they made their home in Zumbrota. Mina was a homemaker for several years and also worked at Curtis Benson and Sons Inc. as a bookkeeper. Curtis died on December 12, 1991. Mina enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading books, gardening and planting, and canning jams and jelly. She especially enjoyed family time. Mina was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota.

Mina is survived by her sons, Eugene (Gretchen) of Wanamingo, Craig of Zumbrota, Dale of Mazeppa, and Ellis (Elaine) of Zumbrota; daughters, Barbara Schilling of St. Paul, Bette (Dave) Lundquist of Blaine; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Elsa Bye of Preston, MN; and sister-in-law, Muriel Steberg of Wanamingo.

Mina was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis C.; sons, Curtis H. "Butch", David; and infant son and daughter.
