Alma Parks Cassell, age 80, of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, June 12, 1999 in Wythe County Community Hospital.

Mrs. Cassell was born in Grayson County, the daughter of Robert C. and Addie Cornett Parks. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kermit Cassell, and one son, Mack Curtis Cassell.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane C. and Doug Fuller of Mineral, and Gloria C. and Dennis McMillan of Crockett; two sisters, Hassie Lee Yonce of Maryland, and Carol Montgomery of Pennsylvania; four brothers, J. C. Parks of Arizona, Ralph Gene Parks of Idaho, Willard Parks and Ford Parks, both of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy E. Blevins officiating. Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services.
