Ida was the illegitimate daughter of Eliza Ann (Peach) Allen. She may have been raised by her grandparents, John S. and Ann (Trefry) Peach.

Mrs. Ida L. Carey, widow of George W. Carey, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stephen H. Fagg, 25 Prince street, Sunday, after a long illness. At the time of her demise she was 82.

A native of the town, she is survived by 11 children, 44 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Survivors are seven sons, Robert W. Carey of Thomaston, Me., formerly manager of the municipal light department; Frank L., Arthur M., Edward C., George H., James I., and Chester F., all of Marblehead; four daughters, Mrs. Stephen Fagg and Mrs. Elizabeth DeWitt of Marblehead, Mrs. Eunice B. Annand of Somerville and Mrs. Sadie E. Hoeg of Randolph.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her son, Frank L. Carey, 14 Prince street. The bearers, all grandchildren of the deceased, were Albert Carey, Roy Carey, Frank H. Carey, Nathan Hoeg, Donald Carey and Daniel DeWitt, Jr.

Rev. Arthur W. Webster of the Universality church in Salem performed the services which were under the direction of William F. O'Brien and Son, Pleasant street. Committal was in Waterside cemetery with Rev. Mr. Webster reading the committal prayer.

There were many lovely floral tributes from relatives and friends of the deceased, who was a widely known and beloved citizen.
