Son of Edwin Randolph and Olivia Alexander Page.
Husband of Emma Hayden Gilham Page,father of Edwin,Josephine,Evan Powell Page and Mrs.James Marshall.Cousin of Thomas Nelson Page,former American Ambassandor of Italy.

Nationally known civil and mining engineer,who built and developed a number of railroad lines in Virginia and adjoining States.

Educated at Leesburg Academy,Virginia and at the University of Virginia,where he took a special course in engineering.

Devoted 60 years to railroad building and supervising,beginning his career as a rodman on location in construction of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway,in New River Canyon,in 1871-72,and in 1874,he located and built the Mill Creek Canyon Branch Railway.He was in charge of a party locating double track railway,ordered by Congress,from the Ohio River to Hampton Roads,Va in 1875.In after years he was made general manager of the Hawks Nest Coal Company.He built and operated the Victoria Blast Furnace,Goshen,Va,located and built the Powelton Branch of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway,built the Deepwater,Tidewater and Virginian,organized and developed the Gauley Mountain Coal Company.Co-founder of the Virginian Railway.The Town of Page,West Virginia was named for him.
A member of the West Virginia National Guard for twenty years,advancing to brigadier inspector general and mayor of Ansted,West Virginia,for ten years.
