Seelye was a 21 year-old Shoemaker from Haverhill, MA, when he enlisted on December 4, 1863 and was mustered into service on December 10th. He was captured and taken prisoner on April 20, 1864 at Plymouth, NC, one of 275 men from Companies G and H of the 2nd Mass. H.A. who surrendered to opposing Confederate forces. Seelye died at Andersonville on August 14, 1864 due to Chronic Diarrhea.
