Married Catherine Alspach on 06/24/1860 in Fairfield County, Ohio. He came to Kansas in 1871, an early pioneer and homesteaded in Marshall County near Axtell. He owned and ran a prosperous business called Carney Siding for many years. It was a railroad stop between Mina and Axtell, Kansas mainly for grain but also ran a small store there. He was very well known throughout the area and was looked up to for wisdom. He and Catherine are the parents of 8 children.
