Ringsted-- Mrs. Alta Madden, 80, of Ringsted succumbed Monday at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services for Mrs. Madden will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ringsted Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Edwin Gruneich officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Henry Funeral Home, Ringsted.

Mrs. Madden was born Feb. 22, 1896, at Lisbon, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Kohl. She received her education in rural Lisbon and Ringsted schools, graduating from Ringsted High School.

She moved to Ringsted in 1903 and was married to George Madden Sept. 15, 1915, at Halfa. She lived in Cedar Rapids from 1950 to 1966, when returning to Ringsted. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville, since June, 1974. Mrs. Madden was a member of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Madden is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Vivian) Langerman, Ringsted; three sons, Gerald Madden, Yerington, Nev., Loren Madden and Lloyd Madden, both of Armstrong; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.
