Victor Dunn Billings, 76, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, passed away May 15 in Orem, Utah.

He was born March 7, 1929 in Price, Utah to Victor Lavon Billings and Martha Irene Dunn. His parents moved to Washington, D.C. when he was two years old and he attended schools there. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served aboard a ship in the Caribbean at the end of World War II. He was called on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 19 and was assigned to the California Mission. However, his father was sent to Germany right after the war and Victor's mission was changed to a home mission in Germany where he served three years.

He enrolled at BYU in 1949 where he met and fell in love with Dahrl Thompson. They were sealed in the Logan Temple, June 9, 1950.

Together, they had nine children, four of whom survived. He graduated from BYU in 1954 with a degree in mathematics and received a Masters degree in Engineering in 1957. He was a manager for U.S. Steel Corporation at the Geneva Works for 27 years and received a medical retirement in 1984.

Victor was a life-long Boy Scout leader

and volunteer. His 30 years of service was recognized when he was awarded the BSA Silver Beaver Award. He also completed his Woodbadge training.

He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings, including scoutmaster, Young Men's president, and High Priests Group leader. He and his wife served a full-time mission to San Diego, California. They also volunteered at the Senior MTC in Provo. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dahrl Billings, his four children, Victor Thompson Billings (Terry) of Orem, UT; Irene Tullis (Douglas) of Orem, UT; John V. Billings (Janice) of Spokane, WA; David T. Billings (Carole) of Mesa, AZ; 23 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
