Bernice D. Ahlgren, 86, of Schaumburg, formerly of Crystal Lake, Oak Park and Los Angeles, Calif., died Sept. 10 in Alexis Hospital, Hoffman Estates.
Mrs. Ahlgren was born Oct. 30, 1914 in Chicago to Jeremiah and Mary, nee Becker, McAvoy. She attended Old St. Patrick's parochial school and Orr High School in Chicago.
From 1931 to 1940 she worked for Mrs. Snyder's Candies in Chicago and later, from 1965 to 1975, she worked for Montgomery Ward in Oak Park.
She was a former member of St. Edmund Church in Oak Park where she was also a member of the Silver Circle.
Mrs. Ahlgren was the wife of the late David L. Ahlgren; mother of Barbara (Jack) Billimack, Robert D. (Sally) and Valerie (Thomas) Zicko; grandmother of James (SueAnn), Steven (Vicki), Michael (Laura), Timothy (Julie) and Kenneth (Barbara) Billimack, Rebecca, Todd and Katherine Ahlgren, John and Maribeth Scarano, Kyle and Maryclaire Ahlgren and Brian and Jennifer Zicko; and great-grandmother of nine.
Visitation was held Sept. 12 in Drechsler, Brown and Williams Funeral Home, Oak Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 13 in St. Edmund Church, Oak Park.
Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Memorials were suggested for the American Lung Association.
