Moore was an 18 year-old Drummer from Malden, MA, when he enlisted on November 23, 1863 and was msutered into service on December 7, 1863. When and where Moore was taken as a prisoner is not stated in military records, however it is probable he was captured on April 20, 1864 at Plymouth, NC, when 275 men from Companies G and H of the 2nd Mass. Heavy Artillery surrendered enmasse. Moore died at Andersonville on August 13, 1864 due to Chronic Diarrhea.
