Rita Roberson Alexander Burt, 89, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Rowlett where she had moved to be near her son.

A graveside service has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Crestview Memorial Park in the Garden of Compassion officiated by Reverend Tommy Free, pastor of Lamar Baptist Church and directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Rita was born November 10, 1923 in Erath County, Texas to Henry Robert and Elizabeth Burks Roberson. She married and raised three children before marrying William Lee Burt May 24, 1998 in Wichita Falls. She was an active member of Westside Baptist Church and Sunday School. Rita was always very involved in her children's activities. She was a volunteer for over 15 years for the Girl Scouts in Odessa and Dallas, a member of the mom's club for the drill team in Dallas, and a chaperone for the Cotillion Club in Odessa. The Air Force awarded Rita with the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award in 2000, after 28 years of service. She was active in the Republican Women's Clubs in Odessa and Dallas and loved to cook. She made jellies to give away and took food to church for different occasions. She also loved to have parties and entertain. Rita was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes not only for her family, but for others as well. She was an avid 42 and 84 player. Rita loved to travel and went on several mission trips with her church.

Mrs. Burt is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Bill Burt in 2003; twin sister, Veta Leake; and stepson, Tim Burt.

Survivors include her three devoted children, Lillian Ann Alexander of San Angelo, TX, Barbara Leatrice Alexander of Wichita Falls, Gary Paul and wife Judy Alexander of Rowlett, TX; stepchildren, Sandra and husband Charles Whorton of Columbia, MO, Sam and wife Denise Burt of Seymour, MO; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one greatly anticipated great-great grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
