Born Oct. 9, 1947, Bill went to his peaceful rest late Saturday evening, June 27, 2009. He was a lifelong employee of Vulcan Foundry/East Jordan Iron Works in Denham Springs. He was an incredible soul; a brave protector, a savior to many and a friend to all. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with all of south Louisiana as his playground. He is survived by his children, Billie M. Dixon III and Emily Florence Dixon; as well as his wife of 26 years, Barbara Scully Dixon. The oldest of eight, he is survived by his brothers and sisters: Frances Dixon, Kathy and husband Al Sanders, Charlie Dixon, Carolyn Comeaux, Jimmy and wife Susie Dixon, Curt Sr. and wife Mary Dixon, and Sam Dixon. Also survived by his loving, devoted cousin and caregiver, Jana Rao; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie M. Dixon Sr. and Fadra Weimer Dixon; grandfather, George "Popsy" Weimer Sr.; uncle, Albee Hughes; and a brother-in-law, Kirk Peters Comeaux. Many thanks go out to Generations Hospice and all his caregivers. Pallbearers will be Charlie Dixon, Jimmy Dixon, Curt Dixon Sr., Sam Dixon, Clifford Weimer, Greg Weimer, Dean Weimer and Kenny Weimer. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Dixon, Curtis Dixon, Jr., Thomas Weimer, Barrett Dixon, and Dan Weimer. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, June 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 1, from 8 a.m. until a graveside service in Resthaven Gardens of Memory at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
