Shadrack Golden was the son of William and Mary Polly Turner Golden (both born in 1776). His mother Mary Turner's family is recorded in Wilkes Co. GA (later became Lincoln county) as early as 1784. Mary's father was Shadrack Turner (born 1750). Shadrack Turner was the son of Meschack Turner (born abt 1725). Meshack resided in Halifax Co., VA prior to settling into Georgia. Meshack Turner had 2 brothers: Shadrack & Abednigo (yes, these 3 brothers names were given from the Bible story). Meschack was grateful to have been used in the Lord's service, in helping to establish the Phillips Mill Baptist Church, on Hwy. 44, between Washington & Union Point, in Wilkes Co., Georgia (now Lincoln county). In Lincoln co., GA, Meshack died in 1794, followed by his son Shadrack, in 1820. Father and son owned & worked close to 1,000 acres on Soap Creek, Lincoln Co., Georgia.
Shadrack Golden married Charlotte Vickery about 1830, in Lincoln Co., GA. Their 10 children were: Mary Ann, Mary Polly, Millie Caroline Golden Walker, Catherine Poindexter Golden-Legg, Hickman M., Jasper N., Ann, Elizabeth, Luvisa, and Charlotte Golden. After Charlotte's death, Shadrack married Martha Barnett Combs. Their children were: Sarah, b. 1848; Joseph Morgan, b. 1849; Nancy Jane, b. 1851; and Martha Julia Pink, b.
