Marvin Joe Hester, 63, of Smiths Grove died at 1:35 a.m. March 14, 2004, at his home.

The Barren County native was a farmer and a Methodist. He was a son of the late Joe Hester and Atha Johnson Hester. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Babby Lynn Hester; two sisters, Cleo Hester and Elva Crump; and a brother, Edward Hester.

Private graveside service will be Wednesday at Rocky Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky Inc., 1027 Broadway Ave., Bowling Green, KY 42104.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Hester; a daughter, Jody D'Angelo and her husband, Paul, of Indianapolis; four sons, Billy Hester of Cave City, Bobby Hester and his wife, Bridgette, of Smiths Grove, Marty Hester and his wife, Jeanne, of Horse Cave, and Mike Hester and his wife, Diane, of Louisville; three sisters, Mildred Reece and her husband, Malcolm, and Roberta Cassidy and her husband, Frank, all of Louisville, and Dorothy Waters and her husband, Dave, of Smiths Grove; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
