Mary Margaret Mattingly was the second oldest daughter of John Mattingly and Onea Arnold. She entered the convent of the Sisters of Charity at Emmitsburg MD on February 2, 1827. She later transferred to the western province of the Community and was known in religion as Sister Anastasia.
