OBITUARY: Raymond W. Pechacek, 14, reprinted from the December 25, 1999 River Falls Journal

Raymond W. Pechacek, 14, of River Falls died Dec. 15, 1999.

He was born in Red Wing, Minn., on March 7, 1985, the son of Peter and Sheila Pechacek. He was a freshman at the River Falls High School. He played football on the freshman team.

He went to St. Bridget Parish School where he graduated in 1999. He was a member of the basketball team and played every year for St. Bridget. He was an altar boy at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He went to Australia this summer with "People to People Student Ambassadors." He went to College for Kids and Teen University.

He liked to hunt and fish. He went to Canada with his grandpa, fishing. This fall he shot his first buck.

His favorite sport was football. He liked playing football with his cousins at a family get-together.

He was a Packer fan all the way and said "The Packers are the best team."

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Hattie Christiansen.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Sheila Pechacek; his sisters: Rose and Rachel; his grandparents: Lawrence and Henrietta Pechacek; his great Uncle: George Pechacek; his many Aunts and Uncles and several cousins, who loved him very much.

Funeral was Saturday, Dec. 18, at St. Mary's Big River Catholic Church, rural River Falls.

Interment was at Cherma Cemetery, River Falls.

Pallbearers were Bob Merta, Dennis Hildebrandt, Paul Schmidt, Donny Merta, Ronnie Hildebrandt, and Jeff Holts.

Honorary pallbearers are: Bob Buckner, Walter Schuck, Duane Chapman, Mikey Lubich, Mike Mathys, T.J. Christiansen, Leon Matthews, Lynn Berning, Brandon Cernohous, Brian Mathys, and Haven Schuck.

Altar boys were Chris and Jason Christiansen.

Cashman Mortuary handled arrangements.

Note: Ray died in a two vehicle automobile accident.
