Charlotte Kehart Lang, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Friday, June 26th after battling brain cancer for almost a year.
Charlotte was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 20th, 1937 to Rear Admiral Martin and Louise Kehart. As an only child, she developed an independent, marvelously zestful approach to life from a young age.

Charlotte married her beloved partner in life, Denny Lang on December 27th, 1958, a love which flourished and grew over the next 50+ years.

Charlotte was Valedictorian and received the prestigious General Motors Scholarship upon graduating from Punahou School in Honolulu in 1955. She went on to attend the University of Southern California, graduating with Cum Laude Honors. She was the first female civil engineer to graduate from USC's School of Engineering. She was a member of Tau Beta Phi, an Honors Engineering Society, and Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

At USC, she met Denny and they soon began a wonderful life together. They married in Arlington, Virginia and began their life's journey in Imperial Valley with Denny teaching at IVC and Charlotte working at NAF on experimental parachute design and testing for the Mercury Space Project. She later joined her husband in the family businesses, while raising two children in San Diego and was active in Foothills United Methodist Church, PEO, PTA, AAUW, Juniors of Social Service of San Diego and other special organizations that were such an integral and important part of her life. As a military child and survivor of Pearl Harbor, she was particularly patriotic, with a fierce love and defense of her country.

Charlotte loved children, as any who saw her directing a children's choir would attest to. She shared her love of singing with Denny and was instrumental in their many years of presenting beautiful choral music to the community.

She exemplified the role of "doting Grandma" when her daughter Tama gave birth to her son Elias in 2001 and later welcomed her second grandson Aiden in 2006. Charlotte played a special role in the lives of her two grandchildren, with much interaction, playing and love-filled moments.

For the last 13 years, Charlotte and Denny have operated "The Beautiful" Calipatria Inn and Suites and Steakhouse.

A Remembrance visitation will be held at Frye Chapel in Brawley, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009.

The Celebratory Memorial Church service will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 at 10 a.m. A Celebration Choir will rehearse at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 2nd.

Burial will be at 9 a.m. July 6th, 2009 at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Denny Lang; children, Rick and Tama; her son-in-law, Pedro and her grandchildren Elias and Aiden.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the IV Master Chorale Special Concert Fund or the American Cancer Society .
