On July 14, 1873 in Cuyahoga Couny, Ohio, he married Mary Jane Clara "Jennie" Stacy, daughter of Charles A. Stacy and Mary Clarissa "Clara" Bridge of Garnder, Massachusetts. They had a least three children. They divorced in 1882.
In April 1884, he married Mary E. "Mollie" Crosthwait, daughter of Perry Crosthwai and Fannie Madison of Kentucky. She died in 1888 in Colorado.
On November 26, 1891 in Arapahoe Couny Colorado, he married Jane Ann "Jennie" Storey, daughter of William Storey and Isabella Todd of England. They divorced in November 1900 in Pima County, Arizona.
On December 24, 1904 in Tombstone, Cochise, Arizona, he married Catherine "Kate" Farrell, daughter of John and Catherine "Kate" Farrel of Peoria, Illinois.

Wednesday afternoon the funeral of the late C. E. Darrow, the auctioneer and second hand dealer, was held, interment being in Nogales cemetery. The old gentleman who had been in poor health a long time, passed away Tuesday at the Sisters Hospital, where everything possible was done to prolong his life. Deceased was sixty years of age. To the sorrowing widow, we extend our sympathy.
