He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. He was a member of NALC.
He is survived by one daughter, Joy Shurnitski of Hagerstown; two sons, William W. King of Hagerstown and David King of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three sisters, Audrey Shorter of Annapolis, Md., Shirley Martin of Etlan, Va., and Barbara Brenner of Florida; one brother, Rufus King of Clearwater, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betsy Gum; and one brother, William E. King Jr.
Services were held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown; burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
