ARNOLD WAYNE "Doc" KING, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Meritus Medical Center. Born March 13, 1927, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William E. and Elsie Christine King. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia King.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. He was a member of NALC.

He is survived by one daughter, Joy Shurnitski of Hagerstown; two sons, William W. King of Hagerstown and David King of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three sisters, Audrey Shorter of Annapolis, Md., Shirley Martin of Etlan, Va., and Barbara Brenner of Florida; one brother, Rufus King of Clearwater, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Betsy Gum; and one brother, William E. King Jr.

Services were held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown; burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
