Elsie Catherine Cunningham, 90, of Rice Lake died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born October 21, 1922 in Selkirk, MB to Patrick and Victoria (Cooper) Fidler. She was raised and attended school in Selkirk. She was employed by T. Eaton Company in many capacities. She was married in Winnipeg, MB on September 17, 1949 to Jeffree Cunningham.
Elsie enjoyed being active with sports like golf and bowling. She was also active in her local AARP chapter as well as belonging to the Red Hat Society. She also loved to play poker and other casino games. In her younger years, Elsie was an avid fisherperson, seamstress and crafter. She and her husband loved to travel to such places as Texas, Great Britain, and Canada, with occasional stops in Illinois and Tennessee to visit their family. She was known for her kindness and generosity of spirit, which led to the formation of her many close friendships.
She is survived by: her husband, Jeffree of Rice Lake; their children, Dorothy "Dotti" Cunningham-Ehrmann and husband, Michael of Rock Island, IL and Elizabeth "Liz" Cunningham-Scheel and husband, Kenneth of Ashland City, TN; their grandchildren, Joshua Ehrmann (Bridgett) and their children, Calvin and Anja of Rock Island, IL; Christopher Ehrmann (Louly) and their children, Aiden and Lilianna of Rock Island, IL; Heather Scheel of Nashville, TN; brother, Walter (Jean) Fidler of Ladysmith, BC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Fidler of Selkirk, MB; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Elsie was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd, James and Mervin Fidler.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM, Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake. Burial will be in Orchard Beach Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:30 PM prior to the service on Thursday evening at Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake.
