Son of Charles C. Klapp and Bettie F. Barefoot Klapp.

Walter, who resided at 216 Commerce Street, Harrington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant on B-24E Liberator (#41-29045), 457th Bomber Squadron, 330th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on January 22, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Walter died in the "Line Of Duty" in the crash of his B-24E bomber twenty-five miles northeast of Biggs Field, near El Paso, Texas.

He had served in the Air Corps for seven months at the time of his death.
