Margaret H. Byer, age 87, of Watertown, South Dakota passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Paul Rutten as celebrant. Music will be provided by Spirits of Faith and Danielle Holmquist-Holida.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m followed by a Catholic Daughters Rosary at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday prior to services at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Pattrick Byer, Nathan Byer, Ben Byer, Christopher Streeter, Matt Streeter, Caleb Paulson and John (Jack) Gebhart.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Byer, Craig Byer, Austin Amdahl, Todd Byer, Michael Byer, Jacob Paulson and Sam Byer.
Margaret H. Byer was born on February 12, 1926 to Nicholas and Frances (Mackey) Kranz in Kranzburg, SD. She grew up in Kranzburg where she attended Holy Rosary Catholic School.
She was united in marriage with Arnold A. Byer on November 3, 1945 at St. Anthony's Church in Long Beach, California. Margaret and Arnold moved to Watertown in 1951.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and church circle, Catholic Daughters of Americas, Caring Sunday for Special Needs and also sang in the church choir. Margaret enjoyed being a caregiver for her family and friends and was an advocate for persons with special needs.
Margaret is survived by her children, Robert (Sharon) Byer, Alan (Kay) Byer all of Watertown, SD, David (Brenda) Byer of Fargo, ND, Paul Byer and special friend, Kim of Watertown, SD, Janeen Streeter of Rocklin, CA, Kevin (Nancy) Byer, Suzanne Byer all of Watertown, SD, and Monica (Lee) Paulson of Maple Grove, MN; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her siblings, Paul (Marlene) Kranz of Hastings, MN, Thaddeus (Susan) Kranz of Anoka, MN, Mary (Emery) Byer of Pierre, SD and Jerry (Colleen) Kranz of Liberty Lake, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; her daughter, Lisa; one sister; six brothers; and two great grandsons.
