Professional Hockey Player. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he played at the defenseman position for thirteen seasons (1951 to 1964) in the Western Canada Junior Hockey League with the Regina Pats, Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League with the Regina Capitals, Quebec Hockey League with the Shawinigan-Falls Cataracts, American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans and Buffalo Bisons, and the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks. He was a member of five Stanley Cup Championship teams (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960) and was a member of the NHL All Star Teams (1957, 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961). From 1958 to 1959, he scored four times and assisted on 24 of his teammates' markers, the only NHL season he put more than a handful of points into the books. In 478 career NHL games, he scored 19 goals and recorded 51 assists. After retiring as a player he coached the Regina Pats (1965 to 1966, 1973 to 1977) in both the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and the Western Canada Hockey League, and was a scout for the Oakland Seals (1969 to 1970 and 1971 to 1972). As head coach, of the Regina Pats he led the team to a Memorial Cup win in 1974. In addition, he worked for the Molson Brewery Company and became involved in Real Estate. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. He passed away following a lengthy illness.
