"Babby"

I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith

II Timothy 4:6-7

My Husband Archie succumbed from the land of dying and entered through the pearly gates to the land of the living on Friday, March 12, 2004, at UTMB Hospital.

Our Daddy, affectionately known to family and friends as "Babby", will lie in state beginning on Friday the 19th of March, 2004, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at E R Johnson Family Mortuary and from 7pm to 9pm at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church (30th & Sealy).

Our Granddaddy's life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2917 Sealy, Galveston, Texas. Pastor Louis Simpson, Jr. will deliver the celebratory message.

Our Brother was born August 21, 1925, to Archie Fields, Sr. and Marilyn Jones Fields. Babby grew up in Bay City, Texas with five brothers and four sisters. He later moved to Galveston after serving in WW II in the Navy aboard the USS Rockwall.

ILA Coworkers knew him as a hard worker and self-made man.

St. John Church Family will remember him as a faithful Deacon, Chairman of the Trustees, President of the Male Chorus, Chaplain of the Brotherhood and member of the Senior Choir.

Cherished memories will linger in the hearts of his loving, caring and devoted wife, Ora along with six children, Doris Jean Clark of Houston, Texas, Janice Marie Williams (Larry) of Los Angeles, California, Kenneth Wayne Fields (Johnnie) of Galveston, Texas, Michael Sardinea Fields (Janet) of League City, Texas, Pamela Fields Jefferson (Edward) of Pearland, Texas and Archie Fields, III of Galveston, Texas; godson, Lawrence Leday (Eunice) of Galveston; four brothers, Jimmy Fields (Opal) of Houston, Herman Fields of Galveston, Hallard Fields (JoAnn) of Freeport, Texas, Tommy Fields, Sr. (Brenda) of Galveston, Texas; two sisters, Mary Lee Tolson (Ernest) of Bay City, Marilyn Lacy (Rev. Byrd) of Houston, Texas; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; uncle, Lawyer Fields of Bay City, Texas; aunt in law, Mary Patterson of Houston, Texas; sister in law, Johnnie C. Fields; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family Members eagerly awaiting his arrival are Linda Jane Frasier, daughter; Isaiah Fields, brother; Ella Grice and Fostena Edwards, sisters and his parents.

Special Friends - T.L. Young, Laverne Jones, Ardella Atkinson, Willie Mae Shedwin, Lumas and Rose Etienne, Rudolph and Ernestine Spiller, Tony Nelson, Herman Hicks, Ruby Hill, Rudolph and Ella Rogers, Theresa Pickett, Chaney Scott and Margie Robinson.

The Fields and Sardinea family would like to give a very, very special thanks to the medical and nursing staff of CCU, unit 7A and 7B, Cardiac Care Clinic (Susan) for giving wonderful care. Additional special thanks to concerned female staff of McCoy's Building Supply, Pastor Simpson, who has been our source of strength from beginning to end, along with Rev. Ira Leigh, Deacons Eural Stinson and Randolph Levine.

Cards, florals and memorials may be sent to E R. Johnson Family Mortuary, 3828 Avenue O, Galveston, Texas 77550
