Albert N. Chevalier, 85, of New Bedford passed away on Thursday May 31, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital with his nieces and nephews by his bedside. He was the husband of the late Alexandrina "Alice" (Thomas) Chevalier.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henri and Rose Alma (Armstrong) Chevalier, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

Mr. Chevalier was formerly employed as a production worker for J.C. Rhodes.

Albert was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the amphibious force command ship U.S.S. Estes.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Reservation Golf Club and was the club champion in 1973. He participated in and won many tournaments during his lifetime. He had a deep appreciation for music and had been a drummer for the Bourbon Street Jazz Society. He had a great love for animals and helped many survive what would have been otherwise painful lives.

He will be deeply missed.

Albert was the brother of Roger Chevalier and his wife Loretta of New Bedford, and the late Loretta Provost, Jeannette Faucher, Laurie Camire, Rita Pelletier, Armand Chevalier, and Arthur Chevalier. He was the loving uncle of Janice Perron and her husband Jack of Fairhaven, Sandra Giammalvo and her late husband James of New Bedford, and the late Shirley Smith and her husband Charles of New Bedford, the devoted great-uncle of Thomas Giammalvo of Fairhaven, and the dear Godfather of Donald Chevalier of Fairhaven. He also leaves nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
