He attended Needham Broughton High School and Duke University and was a member of the Duke University Alumni Association. Mr. Adams was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Raleigh.
At the time of his death Mr. Adams was president of Adams and Terry Realty Co., founded by his father D. C. Adams and the late F. L. Terry in 1929.
He served as president of the the Raleigh Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution. He was president of the Capital Horseman Association and for several years served as show chairman of that group.
Mr. Adams was a longtime member of the Carolina Country Club in Raleigh and the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach, NC. He resided in Raleigh but spent many happy months each year as a resident of Atlantic Beach and Beaufort, NC.
He is survived by many cousins and friends and is most appreciative of his cousin Jewell Adams Parker, her husband Cliff, and their family for their attention and care during his illness as well as the relationship that had developed between them over the years. In addition the family thanks "The Visiting Angels" Community Home Care and Hospice for their support.
The family is especially grateful for the support given by his caretaker Marian Denning whose presence brought him much comfort and happiness over the last months.
A visitation will be held for family and friends at 10 am Saturday, July 20, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at the First Baptist Church, 99 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Entombment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
