Robert "Bobby" Walter Danz, Sr. Bobby Danz, age 83, of Manor and Del Valle areas, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 18th, 2013 at home with family around him. Bobby was born on the 8th of January, 1930, the son of Felix Joseph Danz and Ruby Antonio Schmidt Danz. Bobby was raised in Manor and graduated from Manor High School.

Right after graduation, Bobby started his first job with Southwestern Bell Telephone as a linesman, and he also married Bonita Ann Rush. After a year or so, and several close calls climbing the small, flimsy, ice covered telephone poles in the snow and freezing rain, he decided it was time for a career change.

Bobby then went to work for the Consolidated Aircraft Company in Dallas/Ft. Worth for one and a half years, shooting rivets into the wings of B-36 aircraft with his brother, Arthur. Bobby would be on the inside of the wing, and Arthur would be on the outside of the wing working as a team.

He then came back to Austin and worked at a gas station for two and a half years. Then Bobby went to work for Johnson Hardwood Floors for several years which, while still in high school, he had worked for on weekends and in the summer. Bobby then went to work for his brother-in-law Ollie Anderson at American Floors for several years. In 1968 Bobby and his partner Norene Richards started their business Unique Floors.

After achieving his lifelong dream of retiring at the young age of 54, Bobby bought a motor home and he and his friends traveled extensively throughout the United States, Alaska, Canada and Mexico for several years. After getting the traveling bug out of his system, he decided he wanted to raise cattle, which he did for 26 years. Bobby enjoyed climbing on his old John Deere tractor and clearing and planting fields, and working with the cattle, and the occasional bottle feeding of a new calf.

And there were still those trips when, on a whim, Bobby and friends would load up the motor home, and head out to the Grand Old Opry, Las Vegas, or a NASCAR race.

Through the years, while the children were still in school, Bobby was very active in the Manor Booster Club and the PTA. Bobby was a devout Catholic and past active member of St. Peters Apostle Church for many years. Bobby was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight twice, District Deputy, and Fourth Degree Knight, at originally Council #1017.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife Bonita Ann Rush Danz, his parents Felix Joseph Danz and Ruby Antonio Schmidt Danz, his oldest son Robert (Butch) Walter Danz, Jr., his brothers Felix Edwin Danz, Arthur Aloph Danz, and sisters Kathryn Mary Danz Sunbeck and Genevieve Laura Danz Helper.

Bobby is survived by his sons Joe Clarence Danz and Wesley Toney Danz. Grandchildren Linsey Danz of Houston, TX, Stephanie and husband Mason Heiden of San Marcos, TX and David Danz of Round Rock, TX. Sisters Ruth May Danz Anderson of Georgetown, TX and JoAnn Danz Baldridge and husband Don of Moscow, Idaho.

We give many thanks to Advanced Home Health, especially Silvia Davis and Piper Robinson for their kind and gracious help over the past couple of years and Courtney, Kim and Mike of Resolutions Hospice.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at seven o'clock that evening. A funeral service will be conducted at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.

The active pallbearers will be David Danz, Mike Lummus, James Anderson, Jim Anderson, Stephen Moore and Mason Heiden.
