Jack Everett Holloway age 85 a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Wednesday at the family residence. He was born to the union of John. W. and Jessie Ogle Holloway on the family farm in South Bradley County, on January 2, 1928.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Carolina his parents 2 sisters Barbara Holloway and Frances Roberts, 3 brothers Walter, Clyde and Raymond Holloway.

He is survived by three wonderful children Alan Holloway (Helen), Sharon Gallaher (Terry) and Joy Akins (Tim), 2 sisters Cora Davis and Joyce Allmon, 3 brothers Bobby, Vernon, and Deryle Holloway. Eight loving grandchildren and six precious great grandchildren. All were the pride of his life.

He was dedicated to God and God's work and to his church which he faithfully served. He was converted at age 16 at a cottage prayer meeting and became a member of South Cleveland Church of God for over 60 years of which time he served as church clerk for 35 years under 11 pastors. He served in many capacities at South Cleveland, on various committees and boards. He loved Southern Gospel Singing, participating in duets, trios, quartets, choirs and bands. He was a member of the former International Forward in Faith Church Choir. He was truly dedicated to his family and his Church which he served with pride. He served in the US Navy and Naval Reserve for 6 years before Honorably Discharge. He loved all sports, played and coached for many years in the church league. He played his last game of softball at the age of 75. Then watching and supporting his children and grandchildren as they played.

He was employed with Associated Grocery of Tn., Cleveland Water System, Burlington Industry of Cleveland, Goodlets Food Markets where he co-founded the TN Retail Grocers Association and served on its board of directors for 10 years. For the past 40 years he has been an active member of River Counties Association and for the past several years has been a Broker/Affiliate with Gilbert Real Estate and Property Management. He has also been an active member of the Gideon International South Camp for several years.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held 11am Saturday July 20, 2013 at the South Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Chris Moody, Rev. Wendell Smith and Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Cemetery with Brian, Casey and Terry Gallaher, Zach and Marcus Holloway and Tim Akins serving as casket bearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Gideon International South Camp. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 8 at the church and also one hour prior to the service.
