DEATH CLAIMS JENNIE KESSNER

Jennie Young Kessner, 87, died Monday morning in a Provo hospital.
She was born January 6, 1872, in Aberdeen, Scotland, a daughter of George and Catherine Black Young. She married Edward E. Kessner in November, 1891, in Rock Springs, Wyo. They received their endowments in the Mesa LDS Temple in 1946. He died in 1950 in Denver, Colo.
She came to America with her parents as converts to the LDS Church when she was 13. They made their home in Rock Springs, Wyo. where she received her education. After her marriage they made a home in Rock Springs until 1894 when they moved to Belt, Mont., where Mr. Kessner managed a mercantile store. In 1909 they returned to Rock Springs where they lived until Mr. Kessner's death, and made her home with her son, John, in Compton, Calif. She came to Utah several years later. She was a member of the LDS Church, active in Relief Society, and made her home available to LDS missionaries.
Surviving are three sons and four daughters: Edward G. Kessner and Forrest Ogden Kessner, Rock Springs; John L. Kessner, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. W. G. (Mamie) Collard, Provo; Mrs. Richard (Alice) Fenton of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Harold (Charlotte) McCormick of Garden Grove, Calif.; and Mrs. Noel (Christine) Rosse of Midvale; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery
