WEST TEXAS CITY -
Mrs. Rosa Lee Eelbeck departed this earthly life Thursday, September 12, 2002, at her home in Texas City.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist
Church, 302 N. Oak in Texas City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002, at Rising Star Baptist Church with Pastor D.N. Benford, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.
Mrs. Eelbeck was born August 12, 1909, in Live Oak, Texas to Tom and Nina Brown, the eldest of two daughters. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Tuskegee University, Alabama; and Texas Southern University, Houston. She began teaching in Texas City in 1943, and taught 32 years. She was a member of Rising
Star Baptist Church; and the Texas City-La Marque Retired Educators Association.
She leaves to mourn, one sister, Leatha Reynolds of Texas City; daughter, Sylvia Campbell of Carson, California; son, Thaddeus B. Curry of Texas City; and daughter, Nima Lee Long of Los Angeles, California; sonin-law, Albert Campbell; daughter-in-law, Mary Curry; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a dedicated care giver, Earline Willis of Texas City; many relatives and friends.
