Deceased Name: Roger Lee Presley
MARION - Roger Lee Presley, 64, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Royalton, the son of Elmer J. and Lois (Price) Presley.
Roger was united in marriage to Frances A. Stearns on July 4, 1965, in Spillertown in Williamson County. Together they shared more than 43 years of marriage.
He was employed for 27 years at Norge and Maytag in Herrin until he retired in 1997.
Roger was an active member of Lamaster Pentecost Church of Marion, where he served on the church board, formerly served as Sunday school superintendent and was a church song leader, always enjoying singing when possible in other churches in the area. He also served as chaplain at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Roger loved his family and enjoyed the times they shared, creating memories that will be cherished by those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Frances A. Presley of Marion; four daughters and one son-in-law, Lea Ann Clendenin, Sharon Presley, Rhoda and Chris Clendenin, all of Marion, and Bethany Presley of Johnston City, and her fiancé, Matthew McLane of Metropolis; two sons, Mark Presley and Jared Presley, both of Marion; three granddaughters, Christy, April and Amber Clendenin, all of Marion; one grandson, Nathan Clendenin of Marion; and one brother and sister-in-law, David and Brenda Presley of Royalton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Presley; brother, Fred Presley; and son-in-law, Paul Clendenin.
The arrangements for Roger Presley have been entrusted to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, with Rev. Chris Clendenin and the Rev. Don Colson presiding.
Interment will be in Miner Cemetery in Royalton.
The visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
