Ida Mildred Bell
(April 25, 1932 - July 19, 2013)

Ida Mildred (Humble) Bell, was born April 25, 1932 to James Henderson and Rosa Mae (Decker) Humble. She departed this life July 19, 2013 being 81 years and 3 months old. She was one of 10 children…Zelmer, Haskell, Cecil, Carl, and Linda are waiting for her in heaven…Jimmy Humble of Monticello, Clifford Humble of New Mexico, Marie Sidwell and Thelma Jackson of North Vernon, Indiana…will sadly miss their loving sister.
Mildred married Raymond "Tom" Bell on June 11, 1947. To this union 7 children were born: Walter, Roger, Jackie, Brenda, Paul, Jerry and Terry. Three precede her in death: Roger, Jackie, and Terry…along with her husband, Tom. She also had 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Mildred was saved at a young age and lived her life as an example for all to witness God's love. She loved singing and was often heard in church singing praises to our Lord. Until her journey here was almost over she was able to carry a beautiful tune.

She lived a godly life, not only with words but with action; teaching her children and others by example. She taught Sunday school and led several to the Lord. Everyone loved her because she was kind, honest, loyal, and loving.

She had a beautiful smile, warm shining blue eyes, and hands ready to help anyone and cook the best meals around. Chocolate was her favorite cake and she made us chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits. She loved sharing her home with everyone…under big oak trees, or around the table were many laughs, horse shoe games, and lots of food. How we miss those days with her and other family members and friends.

Flowers grew anywhere and everywhere there was a spot to put one and she took pride in her garden. Dark made her lay her work down and go inside for the night only to rise early again. She won many, many ribbons at the county fair for her growing ability.

She was president of her homemakers group as well as AARP – at one point treasurer of both at the same time. She made sure it came down to the correct penny.

She volunteered at the Wayne County Hospital and at Golden Years Nursing Home and loved helping others.

Our hearts hurt...missing this beautiful woman we called Mom, Grandma, Sister, and Friend…but someday we will meet her again. What a reunion day we will have when it is our turn to leave this world.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Duranceau officiating. Burial will be in Stop Cemetery.
