Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home for Mr. George Turnage, 72, of Columbia, who died Friday, July 5 in Hattiesburg. Interment was in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. The Rev. Mark McArthur, the Rev. Lane Turnage and the Rev. Allen B. Turnage officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Marion County, he was an automotive machinist and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Era Turnage; son, Robert Allen Turnage and sister, Billie Nell Turnage.
Survivors include special friend, Carol King; daughter, Trudy Mulford (Ernie Wayne) of Foxworth; son, Keith Turnage (Renee) of Foxworth; sisters, Bobbie Harrell (Willie), Eva Moree (Bill), Peggy Turnage and Jean Turner, all of Columbia; grandchildren, Tara Pace (Paul) and Loren Lackey; great grandchildren, Christian Pace, Halli Lackey and Kaydence Pace and many other friends and family.
