Story City – Services for Irene (Jessen) Olson, 70, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Randall, Ia. with graveside services at 3 p.m. at Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver. She died Thursday, Jan. 19, 1989 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
She was born at Dolliver, in February, 1918, the daughter of Ingward [Ingvard] and Anna (Smidt) Jessen and graduated from Dolliver High School in 1935. She attended college in Cedar Falls and Augustana and was a teacher at Randall, Osage, Oskaloosa and Davenport until 1942 when she worked at the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. In August, 1945 she married Dorrance Brown, who died in July, 1971; April 5, 1980, she married Clifford Olsen of Randall.
Survivors include one son, David Brown, Des Moines; two grandchildren, Des Moines; one brother, Thorvald Jessen and wife, Dolliver, niece and nephew. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 21, 1989)
