Albert John Claussen was born on May 10, 1919 in Shelby County, Iowa on a farm between Shelby and Tennant. He was the son of Albert A. and Alma Martens Claussen and was one of two children in the family. He attended country grade school and then attended Tennant High School.
He was united in marriage to Doris Dean on May 26, 1941 in Grant City, Missouri. They were the parents of three sons.
They moved to a farm north of Walnut, Iowa in 1947. Doris passed away on September 6, 1973. On February 27, 1975, he was united in marriage to Beryl Sievers. In 1977, they moved to the Sievers farm south of Walnut. Beryl passed away on January 30, 1994. Albert remained on the farm until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Monroe Methodist Church north of Walnut and the Farm Bureau.
Albert passed away at his home on Sunday, August 9, 1998. He had attained the age of 79 years, 2 months and 30 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Doris and Beryl; and by a granddaughter Christi Claussen. (The Walnut Bureau, August 20, 1998, p. 5)
