U.S. Congressman. Born in Oquawka, Illinois, James B. McKinley served as president of the Aledo Bank from 1892 to 1907. A prominent Republican he served as a member of the state Republican Central Committee. He was a member of the State Railroad and Warehouse Commission from 1901 to 1902. He was also a member of the Aledo School Board, and in 1905 was elected in a special election to the United States House of Representatives serving from November 7, 1905 until his retirement on March 3, 1913. bio by strep3.
