Floyd Max Coleman, 76, of West Burlington died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Sept. 7, 1934, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Theodore and Pearl Gray Coleman. On April 27, 1973, he married Darlene Sutcliffe in Illinois.

Mr. Coleman farmed and worked 24 years as a bar sheer operator for J.I. Case Co., retiring in 1992. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1953. He enjoyed fishing, planting flowers, yard work, and swinging by his garden with his dog. He wanted more public attention to prostate cancer and testing for it.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jason Coleman of Danville; one daughter, Kristi Coleman of Keokuk; five children from a previous marriage; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Effie of Mount Pleasant and Ardath of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. No visitation or service is planned. The body has been cremated. Lunning Chapel in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
