DICKINSON — Joe Dickens, 79, of Dickinson died Wednesday at Humana Hospital-Clear Lake in Webster.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Dickinson, the Rev. Abe Mack officiating.
Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Alta Loma, under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home.
Visitation is set for after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home; a wake will be held 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born Dec. 18, 1910, in Branchville, Mr. Dickens was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, serving in many capacities.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. He was a member of Pride of Dickinson Masonic Lodge No. 471, Free and Accepted Masons Prince Hall Affiliation.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dickens of Dickinson; son, George Dickens of Lubbock; daughter, JoAnn Dickens of Lubbock; stepson, Roy Lee Perkins of Dickinson; stepdaughter, Edith Marie Clay of Dickinson; sisters, Lola Ashford of Dickinson and Florence Washington of Plainview; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are members of the Pride of Dickinson Masonic Lodge No. 471 F&AM.
