ACE H. HUMBERTSON SR.

CUMBERLAND -- Ace Howard Humbertson Sr., 88, of Bowling Green, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 10, 2000, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Jan. 3, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Azariah and Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Humbertson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Helena (Rudiger) Humbertson, on Oct. 17,1973; and two brothers, Albert O. and Raymond E. Humbertson.

Mr. Humbertson retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in 1974, where he was a machinist. Ace was a proud Army World War II veteran of the European Theatre, where he served with the 3466th Corps of Engineers as a 1st Lieutenant. After his military service, he was a member of the Army Reserves, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was also a member of Fort Cumberland Lodge #211, Scottish Rites Ali Ghan Temple, Royal Order of Jesters and he received his A.F. and A.M. 60-year pin in 1999 from the Masonic Lodge, and was also a 60-year member of the Scottish Rites.

Surviving are three daughters, Pamela Cook and husband Gus, Deanna Lupettie and husband Dave, all of Cumberland, Janet Phillips and husband Jim, Kingwood, W.Va.; one son, Ace H. Humbertson Jr., Catonsville; two sisters, Levada Carney and Catherine Johnson, both of Cumberland; one brother, C. Earl Humbertson and wife Helen, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Dave Lupettie Jr., Gary Cook Jr., Missy Rickelmann, Dina Lawyer, Jim Phillips Jr., and Jill Cole; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Laken, Jordan, Derek, Tyler, Brittany, and Dylan; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

The family requests contributions be made to the Western Maryland Health System Home Hospice Care Unit, American Cancer Society or the World War II Memorial, Washington, D.C.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Lupettie, Gary Cook, Jim Phillips, Larry Lawyer, Steven Rickelmann, and his nephew, Donald Humbertson.
