J. I. Jayroe Dies
CORSICANA, Texas, May 13 - J. I. Jayroe, 92, Confederate veteran and resident of Navarro County sixty years, died at Purdon. Funeral services were had Wednesday at Dresden. Survivors are a son, three daughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

AGED CONFEDERATE VETERAN DIED NEAR PURDON TUESDAY
J. I. Jayroe, aged 92 years, a Confederate veteran, resident of Navarro county for 60 years, died two miles northwest of Purdon Tuesday morning, and the funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Dresden, where interment was made. He received a wound in the right elbow during the Civil War. Prior to moving to the Purdon community a number of years ago, he lived in the Spring Hill community. He was actively engaged in farming until a couple of years ago.

Surviving are one son, Jim Jayroe, Purdon; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Warren, Ennis; Mrs. Roxie McElroy, Corbet, and Mrs. Mettie Ivie (* Mittie Lou (Jayroe) Ivie), Silver City, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

"Grandpa" Jayroe (*Levi George Jayroe), who had been ill several weeks, died Tuesday morning at
6:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Ivie (*Elgin Hanson Ivie). He was 90 years, one month and 27 days old. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with burial in the Dresden Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Tom Smith of Hillsboro.

Note; don't understand why Levi George Jayroe is listed as J. I. Jayroe. It has to be a type-o by newspaper editor. Levi did have a son; James Isaiah Jayroe (J. I.) 1878–1945.

The 3rd wife listed for this Levi is actually his 2nd wife; her name was Nannie (Berry) Jayroe (b. May 2, 1841- d.August 11, 1915).
Also, Levi Asbury Jayroe is not the son of this Levi Jayroe, he is the son of the Levi George Jayroe born in, or around, 1820. Levi Asbury Jayroe's mother was Sarah A. Jayroe.
