Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Collins passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.

Freddie Bell Frierson Collins was born September 9, 1931, in Haskell, Texas, to Oretha (Decker) and Charlie Frierson. Her mother died in childbirth in 1933 (along with Freddie's baby sister Jane) when Freddie was only 3 years old. She and her sisters, Mary and Maggie, were then raised by their Aunt Dine and Uncle Oscar. They worked in their boarding house and learned to cook and sew like professionals.

Freddie was an excellent and popular student at Haskell High School, serving as a cheerleader and playing basketball. After graduation, she began her professional career as a telephone operator. Soon she caught the eye of a young drug store soda jerk and marriage soon followed. She married Guy Clifford "Bodie" Collins Jr. on December 17, 1950. They lived in Haskell and Graham Texas, but the majority of their life together was spent in Frederick, Oklahoma.

She spent her time making a home for her five children and helping to manage her husband's business. But she was also known for her excellence as a seamstress, in needlework, and as a knitter. She was a tough competitor at video games, and later loved an afternoon of bingo. She loved to shop, especially for jewelry, clothes, and Keds.

She did many kind deeds with words and gifts secretly for people, never asking for anything in return. Her family is comforted as those stories are shared.

Her heart belonged to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She followed their sports games and musicals and graduations, always proud of all that they had done and the beautiful, smart people they have become.

She was heartbroken at the early passing of her daughter Nina "Cathy" Catherine, her son Guy Clifford "Cliff" Collins III, a sister Maggie, and a special niece who was much like a daughter, Faye Ford Starks.

Left to rejoice in her legacy are her two daughters, Julie Jane Tyler and her husband Gary, Jana Gayle Cobb and her husband Phillip, and her son Edward Nance Collins and his wife Cynthia. Her grandchildren include Geromy Schrick and Tamera, Justin Schrick, Zachary Schrick and Brittney, Bret Tyler and Courtney, Todd Tyler, Kristen Pineda and Ricardo, Matthew Tyler, Keri Gaines and Trey, Katie Haston and Daniel, Laura Collins, and Garrett Collins. She also was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Frederick School Enrichment Foundation in honor of Freddie's term on the Frederick School Board.
