Carmel Lombard, 89, of Marion Court, North Haven, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the Connecticut Hospice after a long illness.

He was the husband of Domenica Mae Raccuia Lombard. Mr. Lombard was born in New Haven on March 12, 1916, a son of the late Anthony and Antoinette Lombard.

He was an auto mechanic and proprietor of the former Lombard's Exxon Station, Whitney Ave., Hamden for many years. Mr. Lombard was a WW II Marine Corps Veteran and fought in the Pacific Theatre achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Carmel Council, Hamden, the North Haven Lions Club and the Farms Country Club, Wallingford.

He is also survived by a sister, Mary Lombard Richards and her husband, Benjamin, of Ithica, N.Y.; a brother, Arthur Lombard of Stoughton, MA.; a brother-in-law, Antonio Raccuia of New Haven; an aunt, Carmela Accurso of Hamden and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrted at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
